Campsite Review

Lake Louisa State Park; Clermont, FL

  • Date:  May 25-28, 2007
  • Length of stay:  3 nights

This is a Florida state park situated on Lake Louisa in Clermont (about 45 minutes west of Orlando).  It is a beautiful 4500 acre state park with two lakes and 20 miles of trails for hiking or mountain biking.  There is fishing by boat or on piers and there is a designated swimming area.  Only boats with no motor or a trolling motor are permitted on the lakes within the park; Lake Hammond and Lake Dixie.  There is a launch for canoes and kayaks.  There are also facilities for horseback riding and designated trails and campsites for equestrian.  There are picnic pavilions and bathhouses sprinkled throughout.  The campgrounds are full service however, they are relatively new.  This means that there is no shade.  We were camping at Memorial Day weekend in Central Florida and it was very hot, too hot to even hike.  With so much to do at the park, we will definitely come back, but it will be during the winter months.  Rates are reasonable, $21.00 for full hookup.
